Accident on Set of Gladiator 2 Results in Multiple Injuries, Four Hospitalized with Burns

During the production of Gladiator 2 in Morocco last week, a serious accident occurred on set, leading to injuries that required medical treatment for six crew members.

According to a report by Variety, as of Friday, four individuals were still hospitalized due to burn injuries sustained in the incident.

Paramount Pictures, the studio behind the film, addressed the incident through a spokesperson who stated, “While filming a planned stunt sequence on the set of the Gladiator sequel, an accident occurred during which several crew members experienced non-life-threatening injuries.

The safety and full medical services teams on-site were able to act quickly so that those who were impacted immediately received necessary care.

They are all in stable condition and continue to receive treatment.”

The statement emphasized the prompt response and ongoing care provided to the injured crew members, reassuring the public that their condition is stable.

Paramount Pictures assured that they will closely monitor the situation and take all necessary precautions as production resumes.

Gladiator 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the original 2000 film, will see the return of cast members Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi, reprising their roles.

The new film will also feature notable newcomers such as Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and Joseph Quinn, the breakout star from Stranger Things 4.

While the accident has undoubtedly impacted the production schedule, the studio has not announced any delays to the film’s planned release date. Gladiator 2 is currently slated for a November 2024 premiere.
