“I’m really trying to get Keanu Reeves to consider me for John Wick 5 or 6,” Mackie expressed. “I think that will make me a cool dad if I had, like, a five-minute fight scene with Keanu Reeves. I’m gonna put up a fight! [Pro wrestler] Samoa Joe punched me in the face in [Twisted Metal] and I did not go down!”

Mackie, renowned for his portrayal of Sam Wilson in Marvel’s Captain America series, will soon return to the role in 2025’s Captain America: Brave New World. Additionally, he stars as John Doe in Peacock’s Twisted Metal series and recently featured in the 2023 film If You Were the Last, among other projects.

While the production of a fifth John Wick installment has been confirmed, delays due to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes in 2023 slowed down pre-production.

Although a release date for the film is pending, uncertainty looms over Reeves’ involvement, especially after the events of 2023’s John Wick Chapter 4. Nonetheless, director Chad Stahelski hinted at having ideas for five more John Wick movies as of October 2023.

Meanwhile, Ana de Armas leads the cast of a John Wick spin-off titled Ballerina, set to hit screens on June 6, 2025. Directed by Len Wiseman, Ballerina bridges the gap between John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum and John Wick Chapter 4, with de Armas portraying an assassin named Rooney.
