News of Murphy’s return follows his recent triumph at the Oscars, where he clinched the coveted Best Actor award for his portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed biopic, Oppenheimer. The actor’s stellar performance also earned him accolades at prestigious ceremonies including the Golden Globes and BAFTAs.
In an exclusive interview with Birmingham World, series creator Steven Knight expressed his excitement about Murphy’s reprisal of the role, stating, “He is definitely returning for it. We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth.”
The Peaky Blinders series, renowned for its gripping narrative and stellar performances, is deeply rooted in Birmingham’s history, depicting the rise of the Shelby family amidst the post-World War I era.
