Daniel Radcliffe-“Will Continue To Support the Rights of All LGBTQ People”

Daniel Radcliffe, the star of the Harry Potter franchise, has once again voiced his support for the LGBTQ+ community and expressed his disappointment in J.K. Rowling’s past anti-trans comments.

In a recent interview with The Atlantic, Radcliffe reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the rights of all LGBTQ+ individuals, stating, “I will continue to support the rights of all LGBTQ people, and have no further comment than that.”

Radcliffe also shared his sadness regarding Rowling’s comments about the trans community, saying, “It makes me really sad, ultimately, because I do look at the person that I met, the times that we met, and the books that she wrote, and the world that she created, and all of that is to me so deeply empathic.”

The contrasting statements from Rowling and Radcliffe began in 2020 when Rowling made remarks perceived as prejudiced against trans people, followed by Radcliffe’s positive message of support for the trans community. In his latest interview, Radcliffe addressed critics who have called him ungrateful for taking a stand against Rowling, acknowledging her contributions to his life and career while emphasizing the importance of standing up for his beliefs.

“Jo, obviously Harry Potter would not have happened without her, so nothing in my life would have probably happened the way it is without that person. But that doesn’t mean that you owe the things you truly believe to someone else for your entire life,” Radcliffe said.
