Disney Announces Sequels to Popular Franchises: Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia
Disney fans, get ready for more adventures with your favorite characters! During today’s Disney Q1 earnings call, CEO Bob Iger announced that sequels to Frozen 2, Toy Story 4, and Zootopia are in the works.
These franchises have been extremely successful and well-received by both audiences and critics. All three previous films were nominated for Academy Awards, with each latest installment making over $1 billion at the box office.
Given the profitability and critical acclaim of these franchises, it’s not surprising that Disney has decided to lean into their unrivaled brands and franchises for new sequels. Compared to the returns of Disney’s recent original film, Strange World, which made less than $74 million worldwide, it’s clear why returning to these popular franchises is a smart move for the company, especially as they are implementing new cost-cutting measures.
