After the success of its first season, Extraction 2 has finally been released, much to the delight of fans.
As expected, the second installment of the action-packed series surpassed its predecessor in terms of thrills and excitement.
Now, the big question on everyone’s mind is whether we can expect a third installment of Extraction. And the answer: YES!
Extraction 3-The Hint?
In the first season, there was little hope for a sequel, mainly because Tyler Rake, the protagonist played by Chris Hemsworth, was shot multiple times and appeared to be on the brink of death.
However, he miraculously survived and was patched up in season 2, ready to embark on another thrilling mission.
Although he had to endure the loss of his friend Yaz, Tyler emerged from the events of the second season in good health and seemed more than prepared for another adventure.
Furthermore, he was presented with another opportunity to take on a new mission, leaving fans hopeful for a continuation of the series.
What Has Been Said?
While Netflix has yet to officially confirm Extraction 3, Chris Hemsworth has expressed his enthusiasm for reprising his role as Tyler Rake in a potential threequel.
In an interview, he stated, “I love it. I love playing the character. I love this world. I love having something else outside of Marvel that’s amassed a bit of a following, something more in the real world. I honestly feel like we made a better film than the first one. That’s rare in the franchise world. We’d be remiss not to have a crack at another one.”
The Russo Brothers, the directors of Extraction, also share the sentiment and are hopeful for a third chapter. Speaking to Collider, they mentioned, “I mean, you never want to anticipate the audience’s response, but there’s certainly room for an Extraction 3. There are some surprises in Extraction 2 that could open up the world of Extraction, on top of which, I think Sam Hargrave did an incredible job with this film, and I think that he has topped the first one.”
Sam Hargrave, the director of Extraction 2, added to the speculation during an appearance on BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast. He revealed that there is already a story in development for a third movie and expressed his hopes for its realization, saying, “Fingers crossed, if people enjoy the second one, there already is a story in development for a third movie in the works. What it is exactly, I can’t say right now, but I believe there is another adventure in the wind for Tyler Rake.”
While Chris Hemsworth has mentioned his intention to take a step back from his career to spend more time with family, he has expressed a strong desire to explore the character of Tyler Rake to its fullest potential. The fact that he has a successful franchise outside of the Marvel universe adds to the appeal of continuing the Extraction series.
With the positive reception of Extraction 2 and the eagerness of the cast and crew to continue the story, it seems likely that Extraction 3 will become a reality.
