Directed by Matt Shakman, known for his work on “WandaVision,” and written by a team including Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Eric Pearson, and Ian Springer, “The Fantastic Four” is slated to begin production this summer, with a release date set for July 25, 2025.

While plot details for the film remain under wraps, sources reveal that Garner will portray Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer from the comics. This casting choice marks a significant departure from the traditional portrayal of Silver Surfer as Norrin Radd, a change that has sparked both curiosity and speculation among fans.

Garner’s star has been on the rise since her breakout role as Ruth in the Netflix crime drama “Ozark,” for which she has earned three Emmy Awards. Her versatility and talent have been further showcased in projects like the limited series “Inventing Anna” and the recently released film “The Royal Hotel.” With her addition to “The Fantastic Four,” Garner is poised to bring depth and complexity to the character of Shalla-Bal.
