Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ Renewed for Season 5

Netflix has cast another spell with its hit fantasy series “The Witcher,” announcing its renewal for a fifth season. However, the streaming giant also revealed that this forthcoming season will mark the end of the beloved series.

The news comes as Season 4 of “The Witcher” is currently in production, with a significant change in the lead role. Liam Hemsworth will step into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, replacing Henry Cavill, who portrayed the character until the end of Season 3.

Netflix unveiled a glimpse of the upcoming season by releasing a short video of the Season 4 table read. Alongside Hemsworth, the video featured returning cast members Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri, Joey Batey as Jaskier, Cassie Clare as Philippa Eilhart, and Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz of Roggeveen.

Seasons 4 and 5 will adapt the remaining novels from Andrzej Sapkowski’s “Witcher” series: “Baptism of Fire,” “The Tower of the Swallow,” and “Lady of the Lake.” While Season 4’s release date is yet to be announced, fans can expect to see the conclusion of the saga with Season 5.

Cavill bid farewell to the series in October 2022, expressing gratitude for his time as Geralt of Rivia and passing the torch to Hemsworth. Hemsworth, in turn, expressed his excitement to embody the iconic character, acknowledging Cavill’s influence on his portrayal.
