Paramount Delays Chris Hemsworth’s New Transformers Movie

Paramount has made the decision to postpone the release of the highly anticipated Transformers film starring Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson.

Originally slated to hit theaters on July 19, 2024, the film, titled Transformers One, will now arrive a bit later on September 13, as reported by Deadline. Although the delay is less than two months, it does mean that the movie will miss the peak of summer holidays and instead premiere when children have returned to school.

This particular Transformers installment stands out from its predecessors, as it is a fully animated feature. Serving as a prequel, it delves into the captivating narrative of how Optimus Prime and Megatron evolved from comrades in arms to fierce adversaries.

Hemsworth and Johansson lend their voices to the iconic characters Optimus and Elita, respectively, while Brian Tyree Henry takes on the role of the Decepticon leader. The talented cast also includes Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion. The film is directed by Josh Cooley, known for his work on Toy Story 4, with Steven Spielberg serving as producer.

Upon the initial announcement of the project, Ramsey Naito, President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “I’m so excited and proud to be working with Hasbro and eOne to bring the first animated Transformers movie to theaters, showcasing a never-before-told story. I’m honored to have such incredible talents come together to portray these well-known and beloved characters in an origin story at the core of the franchise.”

Prior to Transformers One, fans can look forward to Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the continuation of the live-action franchise set to hit theaters in a few weeks. The film features longtime Optimus voice actor Peter Cullen, alongside Michelle Yeoh, Ron Perlman, and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, who will be lending their voices to various robots in disguise.
