Priyanka Chopra says she has lost roles because Somebody’s Girlfriend Was Cast

In a candid discussion on the Read The Room podcast, global icon Priyanka Chopra delved into the challenging dynamics of the film industry, shedding light on her experiences with rejection and the pervasive issue of favoritism.

Chopra, known for her resilience and candor, revealed, “I have seen so much rejection in the movie industry for so many reasons. Whether I wasn’t right for the role, whether it was favoritism, whether it was that somebody’s girlfriend was cast, like there are so many reasons it happened.”

Her statement underscores the harsh realities often faced by actors in an industry where personal connections and biases can influence casting decisions. Despite her immense success, Chopra’s journey has been marked by obstacles, which she acknowledged with grace and introspection.

The actress emphasized the importance of acknowledging and processing rejection, likening it to a form of grieving. “You have to allow yourself to feel the rejection. It’s like grieving. I am someone who does it. I will move on. I will brush it aside,” she affirmed, highlighting her pragmatic approach to navigating setbacks.

Beyond her professional challenges, Chopra also shared insights into her intercultural marriage with musician Nick Jonas, emphasizing the couple’s mutual embrace of each other’s backgrounds. Reflecting on their dynamic, she remarked, “We embraced each other’s cultures in a big way. But it was the cultural things that were different.”

Married since December 2018, Chopra and Jonas have continually captured the public’s fascination with their love story, which transcends borders and celebrates diversity.
