Variety reports that rapper Ice Spice will debut as an actor in Spike Lee’s highly awaited remake of “High and Low.” Joining Denzel Washington and Jeffrey Wright, details of her role are still under wraps, but filming has already commenced.
Ice Spice gained fame with her viral hit Munch (Feelin’ U) in 2022 and has since collaborated with industry giants like Pink Pantheress, Nicki Minaj, and Taylor Swift. Her debut album, Y2K, is slated for release this year.
In Lee’s adaptation, alongside Washington and Wright, the cast includes Illfenesh Hadera, known for her role in Lee’s 2013 Oldboy remake. The film follows a wealthy industrialist’s family targeted by a ruthless kidnapper, based on Ed McBain’s novel King’s Ransom. Lee’s rendition promises to blend riveting thrills with insightful commentary on contemporary society.
Produced by Todd Black and Jason Michael Berman, with Lee as director and executive producer, High and Low will hit theaters courtesy of A24 before its Apple TV+ release.
