Sister Acts 3 excites ‘us’, says Tyler Perry

The excitement surrounding Sister Act 3 is palpable, with producer and filmmaker Tyler Perry leading the charge. In a recent update on the highly anticipated comedy sequel, Perry shared his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the collective passion of the entire team involved.

The original Sister Act film, released in 1992, was a massive success, grossing $231 million worldwide and becoming one of the most financially successful comedies of its time. The sequel, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, followed in 1993, further cementing the franchise’s popularity.

“We got a great story we’re working on that Whoopi’s excited about, I’m excited about, the director’s excited about, [and] so Disney’s excited about,” Perry revealed. “So we’re working on getting that done. Once that’s done, we’re rolling!”

However, Perry admitted, “I’m a little annoyed with how long this has taken me. It’s taking so long, like I’ve done four movies since we started talking about this.” Despite his frustration, Perry emphasized his dedication to ensuring that Sister Act 3 meets the high expectations of fans and the creative team involved. He emphasized the importance of having the right script, writers, and story to honor the iconic status of the franchise.

“Well, just making sure we have the right writers, the right script, the right story, [and] all of those things are so important because it’s such an important, iconic film,” Perry explained. “We want to make sure we do it justice and do it well, so we’re willing to wait for the right script.”
