Since Daniel Craig bid farewell to the franchise in the last Bond movie, No Time to Die, many have been speculating about who will take up the mantle as the next 007.

Among the names that have been floated include Rege-Jean Page, Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Egerton.

However, Egerton’s latest comments have cast doubts over his own candidacy for the role. “I don’t think I’m the right choice for it,” he said, citing his body type as a concern. “You have to be consistently statuesque to be that guy. And that’s something that I am still striving for. I’ve always struggled with my weight.”

Interestingly, Egerton is not the only actor who has recently distanced himself from the James Bond role.

Idris Elba, who has been a fan favorite for years, recently revealed that he was also not interested in taking on the role. Elba told the Daily Mail that he was “too old” to play the iconic spy.

Egerton emphasized that he takes the physical demands of a role seriously, saying that it’s something he considers heavily before taking on any project.

He also mentioned the long contract that comes with playing James Bond, which would potentially deter him from signing on.

Who will ultimately be cast as the next James Bond remains to be seen. However, with Egerton and Elba both distancing themselves from the role, it seems that the search for the perfect 007 may still be ongoing.
