It’s official, Amazon Studios has renewed its hit sci-fi thriller drama, The Peripheral, for a highly anticipated second season. The renewal comes just over two months after the conclusion of the series’ eight-episode first season, which starred Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) as Flynne Fisher and Jack Reynor (Midsommar) as Burton.
Executive producers Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan (Westworld) expressed their excitement for the continuation of the series, stating, “We are thrilled to continue the journey into Season Two and delve deeper into the incredible world that Gibson created. On behalf of Scott Smith, Vincenzo Natali, and the entire team, we’re grateful to our partners at Amazon and, most of all, to the fans.”
Based on William Gibson’s visionary novel, The Peripheral transports viewers to a mesmerizing and unpredictable future, where danger and excitement awaits at every turn. The Peripheral follows the story of Flynne Fisher, a young woman from the rural American South who finds herself in a sleek and mysterious futuristic London after playing a VR game. However, she quickly realizes that this isn’t just any game, and her presence in this world has set dangerous forces in motion, intent on destroying her and her family in her own world.
The series adaptation is written by Scott B. Smith, who serves as the executive producer and showrunner, with Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Steven Hoban, Kilter Films’ Athena Wickham, and director Vincenzo Natalie also serving as executive producers.
