Top 10 Box Office Movies of the Weekend (May 3-5, 2024)

The latest box office numbers are in, and Universal Pictures’ action-packed thriller “The Fall Guy” has taken the top spot, earning an impressive $28.5 million in its opening weekend. Starring Emily Blunt, Ryan Gosling, Hannah Waddingham, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the film captivated audiences with its adrenaline-fueled plot and stellar performances.

Following closely behind is the much-anticipated re-release of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The iconic film brought in $8.08 million, reminding fans of the enduring appeal of the Star Wars franchise.

In third place is “Challengers,” distributed by United Artists Releasing, with a solid $7.64 million in ticket sales. The film, led by Zendaya, continues to draw audiences with its compelling storyline and standout performances.

Meanwhile, Screen Gems’ “Tarot” claimed the fourth spot with $6.5 million, offering audiences a thrilling experience with its unique take on horror.

Rounding out the top five is Warner Bros.’ “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” which brought in $4.5 million. The epic showdown between the iconic monsters continues to attract audiences with its stunning visual effects and gripping action sequences.

Other notable performances include A24’s “Civil War,” Lionsgate Films’ “Unsung Hero,” and Universal Pictures’ “Kung Fu Panda 4,” earning $3.55 million, $3 million, and $2.4 million respectively.

Additionally, Universal Pictures’ “Abigail” and Sony Pictures Releasing’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” each brought in $2.3 million and $1.8 million, rounding out the top ten.
