Zack Snyder Surprises Fans With Mysterious Darkseid Announcement

Zack Snyder fans are buzzing after the filmmaker posted a cryptic video featuring Darkseid, one of DC’s most notorious villains. The video, shared on Twitter, hints at the Snyderverse, the interconnected cinematic universe Snyder envisioned for the now-defunct DC Extended Universe. In the clip, a satellite detects a message from Darkseid asking fans to mark their calendars from April 28 to April 30. While no further details have been revealed, fans are speculating about the Snyderverse’s potential return.

Snyder was initially given creative control of the DCEU following the success of 2013’s Man of Steel. However, after 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice failed to meet expectations, Snyder’s version of Justice League got stuck in development limbo until he stepped down due to personal reasons. He was replaced by Joss Whedon, who made significant changes to the original script, resulting in a poorly received 2017 film.

Fans launched an online campaign demanding Warner Bros. to restore Snyder’s vision, which eventually led to the release of his four-hour-long black-and-white cut of Justice League in 2021. Despite positive reviews, Warner Bros. Discovery named James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-heads of DC Studios, distancing themselves from Snyder and the Snyderverse. However, with the recent mysterious video, fans are wondering if Snyder will return to finish his trilogy exploring Darkseid’s threat.

Gunn and Safran have recently announced an ambitious plan to create an interconnected storyline spanning various media, using the Elseworlds comic book strategy to distinguish between canon and standalone stories. With this strategy, Snyder could complete his trilogy without interfering with Gunn and Safran’s new DCU. While it could risk diverting attention from the new universe, it would undoubtedly please Snyder fans.
